Hey there,

If your team runs on Slack, Anthropic just made AI collaboration a whole lot less clunky — and it’s worth paying attention to.

Claude Tag: AI That Actually Lives in Your Workflow

Anthropic launched Claude Tag this week, currently in beta for Enterprise and Team plan customers. The concept is straightforward but genuinely useful: Claude joins your Slack workspace as a team member. You tag @Claude in any channel, give it a task, and it works on it asynchronously — coming back with results when it’s done.

What makes this different from just having a ChatGPT tab open is the context. Claude Tag is aware of the conversation thread around it, can remember context across a project, and proactively surfaces updates when something relevant happens. Instead of copy-pasting info from Slack into an AI tool and back again, the AI is already in the room.

Think about what that unlocks in practice. Your team drops a client brief in a channel, tags @Claude to draft the proposal, and by the time you’re back from lunch, a first draft is waiting in the thread. Someone flags a bug in #support, tags @Claude to investigate the logs, and gets a structured summary without pulling a developer off their work. The AI isn’t a separate tool anymore — it’s part of how the conversation flows.

The async piece is key. Most AI tools require you to sit there and prompt them in real time. Claude Tag fits around how teams actually work — fire off a request, keep moving, check back when it’s ready.

This is currently limited to Enterprise and Team plan customers, but Anthropic has been moving fast. If you’re not on those plans, now might be a good reason to take a closer look.

The bottom line

AI tools that fit inside your existing workflow get used. AI tools that live in a separate tab get forgotten. Claude Tag is betting on integration over isolation — and for Slack-heavy teams, that bet makes a lot of sense.
